Voice of A Battered Lover

“Here my body lies

With no breath

And no heartbeat

This was the price

I had to pay for loving

Someone who didn’t love me

They loved me with their fists

And their harsh words

Numerous vists to

The emergency room and

Hospital stays

Even after the doctor

Warned me about the

Swelling underneath

My lover still loved

Me with her fists and

Harsh words

I didn’t listen I couldn’t

Leave my baby

I needed her to know

Just how much I love her

Those last harsh words

And blows to my head

Put me in a coma I

Wouldn’t recover from

Transformed my soul home

Today as my body lies

In this coffin

Loved ones mourn me

While my love breaks down in tears

Holding on to my rest bed

Guilt fills her up

Along with the pain of

Losing me

Its funny

Now that I’m gone she

Needs me

Now she thinks she

Loves me.”
