The Funk Master

In 1977 in Dayton,Ohio

A new type of funk music was born in a

Group called Zapp,

Roger Troutman was the frontman.

He was on the mic playing the guitar

Or the keyboard singing

And speaking through his infamous

Talk box.

Everywhere the band played from

Montreal to Detroit the crowd went

Wild on Computer Love,

So Ruff, So Tuff,

Marvin Gaye’s I Heard It Through The

Grapevine.

It changed the view of music for artists

From Snopp Dogg to T-Pain

Music would never be the same

Any artist that dared to use a talk box

Would be booed if they didn’t rock

The house especially similar to Roger

It got rough and tough out here in these

Industry streets after his passing

There is and will never be another like him

The music he created was his and his alone.
